When I first started writing my novels I did it with the express purpose of having something unique to read...I just wanted to say 'I did that'. Of course finishing a 150,000 word novel is something to be proud of. So I set out to share it with my friends and family. My first book was a big hit with them and I was told that I should have it published...HA! Let me tell you getting a book published is just like anything else in this world, you have to be at the right place at the right time. After querying and querying and querying I finally decided pooh on that I was just going to work on book #2. After I finished it I started on 3 then 4. I am 5 books deep and I don't even bother querying anymore...not right now anyway. I have decided when I am finished with them I am going to simply put them aside for a while then when I forget about them I am going to go back and read them. If I like them, I will edit them and send them out to agents.
I am currently working on the revision of one that I absolutely LOVE! I called it Guardians of the Night and honestly I think it's good enough to send in to agents...I just want to make sure that I have it as edited and polished as possible.
While we're on the subject of authoring...you know what I hate? The actual query letter...that little synopsis stumps me each and every dang time. I actually have devised an idea for my synopsis though...I'm going to treat it much the same way I do my actual books...only I'm going to write it before I write my book...then when I am ready to start sending it in to agents I am going to edit and polish it the way I do my books...anyhow this was just a rambling first blog. I am going to (from now on) focus on the book or books I am currently working on as well as use this as a blatant form to push some of my published 'How to' articles :)
